With this "Mega Shinka" creation, derived from one of Nintendo's copyrighted assets, I wish to express my profound love for Butterfree.

Design-wise, Mega Butterfree pays homage to the adorable and misunderstood Caterpie.

When creating the battle stats below, I wanted to express my desire to make Mega Butterfree into a decent Pokémon respected by the obnoxious snobs at Smogon. I also want Mega Butterfree to serve as counter for Mega Gengar and the Special Attack counterpart to Mega Beedrill's physical offense.

With one Quiver Dance and a teammate's Substitute, this Pokémon could even take on the likes of Mega Alakazam!

BATTLE STATS FOR MEGA BUTTERFREE

- Type: Bug/Psychic
- Ability: Filter

In battle Filter reduces super effective damage by ¼. A move that would deal 2× damage will instead deal 1.5× damage, and a move that would deal 4× will instead deal 3×.

Normal Stats: HP 60 / ATK 45 / DEF 50 / SpATK 90 / SpDEF 80 / SPD 70 = 395
Mega Stats: HP 60 / ATK 05 / DEF 50 / SpATK 150 / SpDEF 90 / SPD 140 = 495

- Weakness: 2x (Dark) 1½× (Flying, Fire, Rock, Bug)
- Immunity: None
- Resistance: ½x (Grass) ¼x (Psychic, Fighting)

Note: If this Pokémon is given a Ring Target or affected by Gastro Acid, the opponent has the Ability Mold Breaker, Turboblaze or Teravolt, or this Pokémon's Ability is replaced, the effectiveness of Flying, Fire, Rock, and Bug moves is 2x.
